Chatham Street, Liverpool

This BREEAM Excellent 710 new build student accommodation scheme is to be built on the University of Liverpool campus. The 6 and 9 storey scheme has been designed in 2 blocks, East and West, with a mix of double bedrooms, single bedrooms, studios and two-bedroom apartments. On the lower level there is a restaurant /kitchen and cafe with main reception and management suite. In the West Block there are circa 200 catered ‘hotel’ rooms to ensure the University offers the highest quality conference facilities.

The new residential estate is designed to be operated to the highest standards of design and improved energy performances helping the University meet its environmental responsibilities and maintain its status as a leading research-led university. The concrete framed traditional brick clad building retains the thermal mass whilst the latest designs in both mechanical and electrical are utilised to the limit of current knowledge. Both Green and Brown roofs provide environmentally friendly habitats along with rain water capture that provides a grey water system.

It is the University’s intention to provide a good quality public realm, accessible to both student and public alike, providing a daily interface for community engagement.
