Northfield, University of Sussex

The BREEAM Excellent project comprised of design and construction of 776 new modular timber frames student bedrooms with supporting amenities.  The accommodation was arranged in 14 new three and four storey rectangular and L-shaped blocks.

There is a reception and amenities building with a major extension to the University's district heating system and new access roads.

Extensive landscaping was required in this environmentally sensistive site that was washed over by the green belt.

Ocon's programme allowed for the early completion of a show cluster of residences to help the University market the accommodation to prospective students.  The show cluster was fully working and stocked with all the kitchen and white goods within the specification.

A viewing platform was constructed along the east side of the hoarding and web camera to allow the construction operation to be viewed at any time.
