OCON DELIVERS UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM CAMPUS PROJECT
Manchester based Ocon Construction has just completed its fourth contract in four years at the Sutton Bonington Campus of University of Nottingham. The £6.85 million scheme provides accommodation for 200 students and follows previous contracts that delivered accommodation, a sports centre.
The new buildings were designed by architects Lewis & Hickey and were constructed with a timber frame and included the use of bathroom pods. The accommodation consists of tutor flats, studios and deluxe en-suite bedrooms providing students with high quality accommodation.
The developer, on behalf University of Nottingham, is the Opal Property Group, project managed by Kudos Developments on behalf of Ocon’s sister company and the largest private provider of student accommodation in the UK. Work began on site in July 2008 and Ocon completed in August 2009.
Founded in 2004, Ocon has delivered over 8,000 student residencies handing over 1,500 units for 2009 students.
