Past
Ocon Construction is a sister company of the Opal Property Group. Founded in 2004, we are a rapidly growing design-and-build company that has expanded from a turnover of £32m in our first year to approaching £100m in the latest year.
We are highly experienced throughout the public and private sectors, and our track record includes projects as diverse as student accommodation, residential apartments, mixed use developments including retail and leisure, and state-of-the-art university sports facilities.
Present
Our success is built on the three pillars of expertise, quality, integrity and versatility. All of these are underpinned by a policy of recruiting and retaining the best people and a sincere commitment to building long-term relationships with our clients. As a private company, we are driven by qualitative and ethical considerations rather than shareholder value.
We care deeply about the way we behave as an organisation, the people and communities we interact with and the impact we have on our environment. We adopt a 'Best Practice' approach to supply chain management based on in-depth understanding of local conditions, which means that we look for best value in our negotiations while recruiting local expertise and services wherever possible.

Future
There are few limits to our capabilities. We are a young, dynamic, national organisation whilst still maintaining considerable local knowledge and a commitment to using local labour resources, enabling us to work with the same efficiency anywhere in the UK.
Alongside our continuing involvement in the education sector and with mixed use buildings, our development plans embrace budget hotels, social housing (including senior living and extra care establishments), public sector housing and sheltered accommodation.
To each of these areas we bring the same exacting professional standards and dedication to providing maximum quality and value for money. We have a proven track record of on-time delivery, and have never missed a targeted completion on any of the numerous student accommodation projects we have completed.
We would define our fundamental role as 'space development', which means we are flexible and adaptable to market conditions, open to new ideas and capable of innovative solutions in every situation. We understand space management and can adapt our skills to any environment where optimisation of space usage is key.
