University Place (SCAN)

University Place is an integral part of the University of Manchester´s student accommodation. Constructed used a concrete frame, this prominent 14 storey building in the heart of the University campus provided 320 bedrooms for students and key workers.

Used primarily by the Universities nursing trainees the accommodation was designed and built to ensure each room could deliver appropriate privacy and natural light for those residents working shifts.

The multi-faceted envelope comprised of a variety of elevational treatments including traditional brickwork and zinc cladding. Aluminium glazed windows with solar control ensured year long comfort in these high spec rooms.

This contract was secured through the skill and knowledge of Ocon´s bid team identifying significant value engineering opportunities to reduce construction time and costs.
