Wellington Street, Sheffield
With a history of previous mining works, a substantial amount of ground investigation and geotechnical engineering was undertaken to deliver the most economical solution for the site´s redevelopment.
The project is a contemporary mixed use scheme consisting of two large steel frame blocks ranging from 4 to 8 storeys, constructed using a steel frame.
The development provides 482 student bedrooms, 46 studios and 8 one bedroom flats, with a courtyard running through the centre.
The use of a wide range of contrasting bricks and gull wing roofs produces two attractive landmark buildings in the area.
The scheme also benefits from commercial and retail space, fitted out to shell and core, which adds life to the street scene.
